Excel Security provides high-quality armed security training in the Sunrise, Florida area. Our trainers work incredibly hard to ensure the success of all students who attend our school and to give a firm basis for their career in the security field.

Students from all across Broward County come to us for high-quality armed and unarmed security training. Our Sunrise, Florida weapons training program is a three-day classroom and practical exercise program that prepares students for careers in the security industry. All students who complete our security licensing program earn certification, making them eligible for the security class D license and the class G security guns license.

To become an Armed Security Guard in the State of Florida

Division of Licensing Requirements:

• • The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  • The applicant is required 28 hours of training in a state certified facility.
  • The applicant is required to take firearms training.
  • The applicant must have a health certificate clearance from a doctor. (Physical Examination)
  • The applicant is required target training and handgun marksmanship.
  • The applicant is required ammunition training and firearms care.
  • The applicant must submit fingerprinting & passport size photo.
  • The applicant must undergo an FBI fingerprint background check.
  • The applicant must have no record of any substance abuse

All Student Must Have or Uptain a Class “D” License First to Apply for a Class “G” License

The Florida Statewide Firearms “G” Course will teach students firearms safety, the principles of marksmanship, firearms mechanics and liability. Skill development shall include marksmanship fundamentals, loading and unloading, the 4-step draw and clearing malfunctions.

Every day, our experienced teachers aid students in acquiring an unarmed Class D security license, while our trained weapons instructors train students in obtaining an armed Class G security license. In addition to these services, we plan a direct recruitment drive for our students to be placed once their security service period is ended. We do everything we can to help our students create a solid foundation for a career in security and apply for the security license that best meets their needs. Completion of Course

After courses are completed, a Certificate of Proficiency will be disbursed for successfully completing this course. Applications must be submitted to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Licensing.  Applications will be processed within 60-90 days of submission, afterwards initial license (hard copy) will be issued and mailed to applicant. Once issued Class “G” License will be valid for 2 years. When the student receives the Class “G” Security License he or she will then be able to work as a security officer or as a private investigator in an armed capacity. An annual 4 hr re-certification is required yearly to keep Class “G” License active.
