Excel Security provides high-quality armed security training in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. Our instructors work tirelessly to ensure the success of all students who attend our school and to lay a solid basis for their future professions in security.

Students from all across Broward County come to us for high-quality armed and unarmed security training. Our Fort Lauderdale, Florida weapons training program is a three-day classroom and practical exercise program that prepares students for careers in the security industry. All students who complete our security licensing program are certified, allowing them to apply for the security class D license as well as the security class G security weapons license.

To become an Armed Security Guard in the State of Florida

Division of Licensing Requirements:

• • The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  • The applicant is required 28 hours of training in a state certified facility.
  • The applicant is required to take firearms training.
  • The applicant must have a health certificate clearance from a doctor. (Physical Examination)
  • The applicant is required target training and handgun marksmanship.
  • The applicant is required ammunition training and firearms care.
  • The applicant must submit fingerprinting & passport size photo.
  • The applicant must undergo an FBI fingerprint background check.
  • The applicant must have no record of any substance abuse

All Student Must Have or Uptain a Class “D” License First to Apply for a Class “G” License

The Florida Statewide Firearms “G” Course will teach students firearms safety, the principles of marksmanship, firearms mechanics and liability. Skill development shall include marksmanship fundamentals, loading and unloading, the 4-step draw and clearing malfunctions.

Every day, our knowledgeable professors assist students in obtaining an unarmed Class D security license, while our skilled weapons instructors assist students in obtaining an armed Class G security license. In addition to these services, once our students’ security service period is done, we want to run a direct recruiting drive for them. We do everything we can to help our students create a solid foundation for a career in security and achieve the security license that best meets their needs. We provide training seminars in many Broward County, including Pembroke Pines, Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pompano Beach, Coral Springs, Plantation, Deerfield Beach, Davie, Miramar, Dania Beach, Coconut Creek, Weston, Hallandale, and Tamarac, Florida.

Completion of Course

After courses are completed, a Certificate of Proficiency will be disbursed for successfully completing this course. Applications must be submitted to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Licensing.  Applications will be processed within 60-90 days of submission, afterwards initial license (hard copy) will be issued and mailed to applicant. Once issued Class “G” License will be valid for 2 years. When the student receives the Class “G” Security License he or she will then be able to work as a security officer or as a private investigator in an armed capacity. An annual 4 hr re-certification is required yearly to keep Class “G” License active.
