To Become A Unarmed Security Officer In The State of Florida

Division of Licensing Requires:

• Each applicant must complete a (40) forty-hour course from a certified licensed facility. Training must include all core curriculums and compliance under Florida Statutes 493 and legal guidelines 5N-1.
• The applicant must be 18 years or older.
• The applicant cannot have prior disqualifying criminal history.
• The applicant must provide a full set of fingerprints.
• The applicant must legally be able to work in the U.S.
• The applicant must sign a personal inquiry waiver to allow the department to conduct background checks. (Important: fdacs fees are excluded from course)

The Class “D” Security Course will teach students the basic principles of security including; physical security, access control, terrorism awareness, and emergency procedures. Skill development shall include report writing, interviewing techniques, crime and accident prevention.

At Excel Security School, we provide all our students with a Class “D” License Package which includes:

• State Exams
• Certification

Classes are held weekly. Please check our registration form for dates & times with one of our D.I Instructors. Students must register prior to the class start date to reserve a desk for their upcoming course. Desks are limited.

To become an Armed Security Guard in the State of Florida

Division of Licensing Requirements:

• The applicant must be 18 years or older.
• The applicant is required 28 hours of training in a state certified facility.
• The applicant is required to take firearms training.
• The applicant must have a health certificate clearance from a doctor. (Physical)
• The applicant is required target training and handgun marksmanship.
• The applicant is required ammunition training and firearms care.
• The applicant must submit fingerprinting.
• The applicant must undergo an FBI fingerprint background check.
• The applicant must have no record of any substance abuse.

All Students Must Have or Obtain a Class “D” License First to Apply for a Class “G” License.

The Florida Statewide Firearms “G” Course will teach students firearms safety, the principles of marksmanship, firearms mechanics, and liability. Skill development shall include marksmanship fundamentals, loading and unloading, the 4-step draw, and clearing malfunctions.

Completion of Courses
